WE ARE THE DOLLY DOLPHINS!
Dolly Dolphins is a girls adventure group focused on having meaningful experiences, learning new skills, spreading love in our community, expanding our minds, practicing independence, and strengthening friendships.
OUR STORY
In the fall of 2024 my daughters and I were looking for a girls group to join and instead decided to create one of our own. We imagined a group that would learn and grow through adventures and curiosity and build relationships that would last a lifetime. Feeling inspired, we quickly got to work filling in the details. I asked my daughter Mosley what the name of our group should be, and out of the blue she said, “How about the Dolphins?” Her suggestion left me speechless for a moment, as less than a year prior a High School friend of mine - Molly Larson - had passed away, and her nickname was “Dolly Dolphin”. It was a rare moment of clarity and we decided on the spot that our group should be called “The Dolly Dolphins”, in honor of Molly.
When I reached out to her family to get their blessing for the dedication they were delighted and touched by the idea.
Molly’s sister Linnea had these words to share:
“Molly was intensely intelligent, creative, curious, kind and imaginative, but above all, Molly was genuinely interested. She thrived on gathering knowledge in all forms and one of her great dreams that she was never able to realize was to become a Montessori school teacher. She was an avid reader, she listened to all genres of music, she talked to people from all walks of life and she made friends with absolutely everyone. I am so honored that you chose the Dolly Dolphins as your girl group name and I know that Molly approves. You are seeking adventure, you are searching for knowledge of all kinds, you are expressing yourselves creatively, you are caring about other people, you are tending to the earth and you are extending kindness to those around you.You are doing everything that Molly cared about. You girls give me hope, strength and joy because I know that she lives on through you. Thank you for being the Dolly Dolphins!”
